Tropical Storm Elsa was moving north-northwest of Key West on Tuesday morning, July 6, sending gusty winds through South Florida and spurring tropical storm warnings for the state’s Gulf Coast, per the National Weather Service (NWS). Elsa was expected to bring strong wind gusts in squalls, heavy rainfall, and possibly “a few tornadoes” across South Florida today, the NWS said. The west coast of Florida braced for a life-threatening storm surge and tropical storm conditions through Wednesday.
