Royhil sends 3 teams to South Florida tourney

LOCAL WATER polo club Royhil Seals will send three teams to the 21st South Florida International Tournament, an age-group water polo competition that will splash off at the Pompano Beach Aquatic Complex in Florida from February 16-18.

There will be competition in four age groups, but Royhil will compete in three: Under-14 coed, Under-16 male and Under-19 male.

In the Under 19 male, Royhil has been placed in Group B with Capital, Riptides and Loyola while in the Under-14 male they are in group A alongside South Florida Water Polo Club, Loyola and Capital. In the Under-14 coed category, the Seals will tackle Loyola, Captial and Riptides in Group B.

The Seals’ preparation has been stymied by the unavailability of the 25m pool at Federation Park, which has been down for repairs since Tuesday last week.

That situation has also affected the 2024 Republic Bank Secondary Schools’ Water Polo League (SSWPL) which will take a break for the Carnival festivities before resuming on the weekend of February 23-25.

Ryan Smith, manager of Royhil Seals and director of the SSWFL said the organisers would have to reschedule matches based on that unplanned interruption.
