Ohio State releases statement following the tragic passing of Dwayne Haskins

Haskins committed to the Buckeyes football program in 2016. He did receive playing time in 2017 before putting up tremendous performances throughout his sophomore season in 2018.

As the starter in 2018, Haskins broke the program’s and Big Ten’s single-season passing yards and touchdown records by throwing for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns, per Ohio State’s website. Additionally, Haskins also holds the most touchdown passes in a single game with six, a feat he accomplished twice in 2018.

That year, Haskins led the Buckeyes to a Big Ten Championship after their 45-24 win over North Western. Then, Ohio State defeated Washington in the Rose Bowl, where Haskins was named MVP.

Haskins declared for the 2019 NFL Draft after that year, where he was selected by the now-Washington Commanders with the 15th-overall pick. Haskins signed with the Steelers in 2021.

We would like to send our condolences to Haskins’ family, friends and colleagues durign this difficult time.
