Florida Judge Halts State’s Ban on School Mask Mandates

A Florida state judge halted the state’s ban on local school districts implementing mask mandates Friday.

Leon County Circuit Judge John C. Cooper’s decision came after a four-day trial, Just the News reports. 

The judge said school districts have the right to implement policies as long as they have compelling state interest and a “narrowly tailored” plan of action. 

The judge said he was not ruling against DeSantis, rather taking action to prevent state agencies from enforcing the governor’s order against local mask mandates. 

“The actions of the defendants do not pass constitutional muster,” Cooper said.
