Colorado Gov. Jared Polis trying to lure Disney away from Florida’s ‘authoritarian socialist tactics’

Former Bernie Sanders surrogate Symone D. Sanders said Wednesday she was putting her money on the Disney lobbyists, just before Chuck Todd told her that the Florida Senate had just passed legislation ending Disney’s tax privilege, self-governing power, and special exemption status in Florida. Yes, it looks like the 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act might be repealed.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis saw an opportunity to invite Disney to move to his state and open Mountain Disneyland, where they don’t meddle in the affairs of companies like Disney or Twitter. Just Masterpiece Cake Shop.

Florida’s authoritarian socialist attacks on the private sector are driving businesses away. In CO, we don’t meddle in affairs of companies like @Disney or @Twitter. Hey @Disney we’re ready for Mountain Disneyland and @twitter we’re ready for Twitter HQ2, whoever your owners are https://t.co/r7Vcvu20eb

1) Colorado goes after small businesses like a cake shop

2) No one cares about Colorado

— M Gfunk ????????? (@Engerlandm8) April 20, 2022

As long as they’re not trying to bake a cake though, right? Colorado can sit this one out.

— Erik Soderstrom (@soderstrom) April 19, 2022

This the same Colorado that keeps going after Masterpiece Cakeshop?

— Todd Kiehn (@toddkiehn) April 19, 2022

now do Masterpiece Cakes

— The Unfinished Owl (@UnfinishedOwl) April 19, 2022

You’d rather pick on little cake shop owners. ?

— Nancy (@SameOldNancy) April 19, 2022

Colorado not interfering in the affairs of businesses?

Surely you jest!

— Jean R. Ewing (@GenNerd) April 20, 2022

Correct; you only meddle in the affairs of companies that can’t afford to fight back!

— Bill Rasure (@BillRasure) April 19, 2022

Taking my business from Colorado and moving to to Florida in a matter of weeks.

No … the current situation in Florida is “socialist” in that Disney has special privileges via Reedy Creek that view others have. This would remedy it. It is a long time coming. You want to court Disney with special privileges? That’s as socialist as it gets. But nice try.

— Bill Speros (@billsperos) April 19, 2022

I thought this was about Disney to meddling in state affairs while receiving special treatment from the state? Which corporations do you want running Colorado again?

— Philo (@Phixxer) April 19, 2022

Instead, we (and by we, I mean you) just run oil & gas producers out of our state. Entertainment is optional. Reliable energy is not.

— Mark Hillman (@mhillman) April 20, 2022

Housing is so high, Disney employees would be living in the streets.

— Great Plains Girl (@HeartlandRaised) April 20, 2022

No, we are NOT ready for Mountain Disneyland. If you didn’t notice, our resort communites are in crisis, no affordable housing, low wages, running out of water. #copolitics

— PKolbenschlag (@p_kolbenschlag) April 19, 2022

What happed to Outdoor Colorado? Patagonia? The other mountain gear companies who have left, back to Utah? We do not have affordable housing and no housing except on boulder size rocks on the corner of 16th and Colfax and the Union Station bus station?

— b0bbi evans (@holymackere) April 19, 2022

A Disney park that’s open four months a year?

Just what’s needed.

— @savinggrace1969???‍☠️ (@savinggrace1969) April 19, 2022

You think Disney would be fine closing for 8 months out of the year when there is 3ft of snow on the ground and it’s 15 degrees outside?

— WhiskeyBentRx (@bent_rx) April 20, 2022

And we’re assured in the comments that Twitter already has a sizeable headquarters in Colorado, but the governor doesn’t seem to know that.
